Where does one find a mini chappa’ai?
So yesterday, twjudy set up a really big fish tank by the fireplace. (I can't wait for Yoyo and Bobo to go beserk when we put the fish in.) The tank has the usual plants and rocks and this really neato ceramic sculpture of a Roman temple in ruins.
Ok here it is... moment of utter dorkiness:
We have decided the fishtank needs a stargate to complete the scene.
Hi, who's been watching way too much SG-1 lately? *roll eyes*
Footnote 1: Chappa'ai is the Jaffa term for stargate.
Footnote 2: You can't buy an aquarium decoration that looks like a stargate. I hear if you want SpongebobSquarepants though, you're in luck. We're thinking we'll make one in sculpey and then cast it out of cement or surfboard resin.
Kitty scrubbing
Yesterday was kitty scrubbing day! My fuzzy monsters snuck into the garage a couple days ago and when I found them, they were very dirty from rolling around on the garage floor. Of course that was the night they both decided to sleep on my bed. Yuck. They were about due for a bath anyways so yesterday, Judy got to experience kitty scrubbing for the first time. =D
It takes 2 people to scrub my kitties. I need someone to hold the detatchable shower head for me while I hold on to the victim cat and scrub. Bobo makes a lot of fussy noises but once you get him wet, he just kinda resigns himself to putting up with it until he's done. Yoyo, on the other hand, is an opportunistic escape artist. He'll pretend like he's putting up with it and then if you let him near anything he can latch onto (people, towels, edges of tubs or sinks), he'll try to haul himself out and make a run for it.
The whole process actually went fine except for the one time Judy got within reach of Yoyo and he tried to climb up her head. ^^;
But now the kids are all clean and they smell like mango tango... kinda. Well they're supposed to. That's what the pet shampoo bottle says.
Aside from that, I've been working all sorts of odd hours so I can talk to my co-worker in Israel, and doing lots of sewing for Animagic. Yes, I'm going. =) No, I won't buy a badge and support Revell. =)
Anyone want to brave my Chinese dance recital?
I warn everyone now that my class in particular is a bit held back. ^____^'
I actually like my fellow classmates a lot but most of them didn't start dancing until really really late and some of the more basic stuff... like how to dance in a formation without hitting the person next to you escapes them. Oh the stories I could tell... o_O. I will be taking private lessons and doing solo dances after this to preserve my sanity. =D
THAT all being said... If you still want to brave it, lemme know. =D Tickets are $12 each and I can grab them at my next class.
Actually some of the girls doing solo dances are really good and are worth checking out. =)
I love my fuzzies but OHMIGOD
I spent 2 and a half hours last night trying to fix my laptop after Yoyo went to sleep on the keyboard. He managed to lock up the keyboard so it would only type gobbly gook AND take out my wireless connection.
After half an hour of trying to fix the keyboard by typing all the keys any sane normal human would do, I solved the problem by mashing my hands at random on the keys. I kid you not. Mash #3 unlocked my keyboard. I don't even know what keys I pushed. =P
The wireless problem was not so easily fixed. In fact... it's not fixed at all. I still can't connect to our network at home. Did I mention I had to check in some code last night and discovered at 11pm what Yoyo had done? -_-
I had to explain to my co-worker that my cat had haxxored my computer. At least he was amused... ^^;
I'm going to buy THIS. Software that detects cats on your keyboard and locks it down! This guy is a genius! I will happily pay $20 to preserve my sanity as my cats have decided that my laptops are the optimal heated sleeping location.
Donating to relief efforts for Katrina’s furry victims…
Because our furry companions are also victims of disasters like this:
Emergency Animal Rescue Service
I volunteer and donate to this organization. They go into disaster areas and set up temporary shelters to take in animals. When people are evacuated, they don't usually have a place to take their animals so EARS will take in the animal at no charge until the family can come to collect their pet. They will also care for just about any other animal they get and when they pack up to leave, they make sure every one of them goes to a home.
It's a great program, so if you're thinking about donating to disaster relief, maybe you can send some love to the non-human victims as well.
